Fast Fifteen: Building Extra Credit

I have big goals for myself. There are a lot of things I want out of life, some material things and some non material things. My biggest goal in life is to be a well rounded person. I never want to steer away from my morals or try to be someone other than myself. I want to stick to my religious values and be the best person I can be. Secondly, I want to be successful. Being “big time” is something I have always dreamed of. I want to pursue a career in Business and Finance, and work my way up the ranks in the company. It may be selfish, but I dream of having  nice cars, a nice house, and really just an overall great lifestyle. Lastly, I want a family. My career ties into my family life because I want my children to have the same opportunities I had and perhaps even better. Achieving these “wants” is something I will work nonstop for.

My plan in life has been worked out for the past year or so. Granted, things might and probably will change, but I have a vision. I want to go to college, graduate from college, start my first job, get my MBA, and then work my way up the ladder in the business world. Getting there won’t be easy. My plan to get what I want requires a lot of hard work. First, I plan to continue to acieve my good grades in high school and earn a good score on my SAT’s. Then, I will go to a well renowned college and major in Business or Finance. These four years I plan on working my butt off and achieving good grades. After college, I’ll find my first job and really work hard at it. Lastly, I plan to continue to practice my faith.

I really haven’t thought of a backup plan yet. I have just been so optimistic that everything will work out perfectly the way I want it. And I’m going to keep thinking that way. If something does go wrong I’m just going to cope with it and move on and live in the moment. I can’t worry about what might go wrong; all I can do is work as hard as possible get all the things in life I want.

Fast Fifteen: Words to Live By

My favorite quote is “Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever – Lance Armstrong.” I like this quote because everyday life throws speed bumps at you, and you have to be able to deal with the pain or the frustration it causes you and not give up. Quitting is the worst thing you can do. When you quit you can let down friends, teammates, coaches, teachers, and parents. The grief you feel will stick with you forever, and personally, I never want to let anyone down. Quitting to me is a sign of weakness, and throughout my life I want to be seen as a strong person. Stay strong and never ever give up.

Fast Fifteen: 5 Things

5 things I need to get better at are….

1. Being Patient. I have zero patience. Not having any patience was definitely passed on to me by dad. I can be impatient with teammates, friends, and even complete strangers on the road. I have been told that patience is a virtue, and it is really is. I’ve gotten more patient this year, and it is something I will continue to work on.

2.  Being more open. I feel as though I am a pretty conservative person. I tend to keep everything personal to myself. There are certain things I hate to talk about. I really need to learn to trust people and speak my mind.

3. Not being so stubborn. Yes, I can at times be one of those people who think they know everything, or they think that there is only one way to do something. I need to be able to push my pride away and listen and realize that I am wrong and accept it.

4.  Not wearing my emotions on my sleeve. If you have ever seen me play basketball or soccer you would know there are times during the game that you can tell I am frustrated. This is a weakness that I have and is something I NEED to get better at. Wearing your emotions can be a sign of weakness to your opponents, and I want to be seen as a strong competitor the whole game.

5. Being able to think outside the box. I am a very “robotic thinker.” I tend to usually only be able to see things one way. Being creative and abstract are not something I am very good at. I need to figure out a way to see things in different perspectives.

Fast Fifteen: Sacrifice

Everyday people are making sacrifices whether it be for the their family, their country, or their friends. I have the utmost respect for people who sacrifice time, maybe even body parts, or their lives for others. My family is the most important thing to me in my life, and I would make a great sacrifice for them. My parents make sacrifices for me everyday. They give up their free time to support me in school

and sport events. I would do anything for my parents and my brother and sisters. If one of them needed a kidney or blood I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. My family means the world to me, and I know that if I was in trouble they would help me out in anyway possible. Their presence in my life means more to me than I could put in words. I would make a sacrifice for my family no matter what the situation.

Electricity! More Important Than You Think!

http://tinyurl.com/ybutr4a

http://tinyurl.com/ybutr4a

The most important technological invention to benefit mankind was the invention of electricity. Without electricity, there would be a huge change in our everyday lives. There would be no lights in the house to turn on, no television to watch, and no microwaves to use. If there were no electricity, many of today’s greatest inventions would never have happened. Ipods, computers, washer and dryers, and cell phones would be luxuries that just would not exist. As a result of no electricity, our advancement in society would never have happened. We would still be stuck in the 1700’s with nothing new to anticipate. In the future, electricity will help in the continued invention of the newest and greatest advancements in technology.

http://tinyurl.com/yf8jnvl

No electricity equals one big problem. Life without electricity would be like living with the power out from a thunderstorm. Except this time the power is never going to go back on. Once the sun goes down, candlelight is the next form of light to use. Going out for a weekend movie is no longer a fun activity. Nighttime activities will consist of board games and reading. Electricity provides not only the essentials like light bulbs and refrigerators, but also leisure time to do things like watching television, going to a movie, or surfing on the web. Because of electricity, our lives have been made more exciting and easier. How many times a day do humans turn on a light switch? It is something as humans we don’t even think about, and without electricity there are no light switches to turn on, just candles to light. Electricity powers everything from houses to chemical plants, to printers for the newspaper every morning. Not only has electricity made life easier and better, but it had led to some of the world’s greatest inventions.

http://tinyurl.com/yagfcxk

http://tinyurl.com/yagfcxk

Electricity has provided us with great, useful inventions. We have Ipods, cell phones, video game systems, and computers. Take a second and picture life without these luxuries. This is life with no electricity. Because of electricity, these inventions were made possible. People may not realize it, but electricity is truly used for just about everything. Instead of watching a new episode of their favorite television show, everyone would be reading their favorite author. Although, electricity has allowed people to play and learn with great inventions, but electricity has also advanced our society to where we are today.

http://tinyurl.com/adx3t5
http://tinyurl.com/yhzmjct

http://tinyurl.com/yhzmjct

I believe our advancement in society can be attributed to the invention of electricity. Today, people truly live in a very technology driven world. Through technology we have grown and advanced to the more knowledgeable society we are today. Without electricity, our advancement wouldn’t have occurred because of the lack of technology. I know I would not be at the intellectual level I am today without things like computers, educational movies, and the internet. Today, schools, homes, and the work places all have computers. Students no longer resort to textbooks to find information for a project; they go on the internet for quicker, more direct use. Without electricity we wouldn’t be living in this technology world, and we would be so far behind our true potential. Furthermore, as society grows so does our need for more technology and this technology will always be fueled by electricity.

http://tinyurl.com/ycmola8

With the constant advancement in technology, electricity will only allow our society to get better. Every day, people are creating new ideas and new inventions to help make life easier and more efficient. Because of intelligent scientists and engineers everywhere, electricity is being used to better our society. In the future, I see a huge progression in society. Intellectuals will use electricity to make our world a better place to live in. New technologies will pop up like flying cars or perhaps smaller handheld computers. The opportunities are endless. One thing is for certain though, and that is no matter what’s invented to make life better, it will always be traced back to the most important invention of all time, and that is electricity.

I have very strong ties with my faith. Everyday I pray to God and ask him for his blessing and talk to him about struggles or problems I am having. God has given me everything. He has blessed me with the great family I have, the roof over my head, great friends, gifts, and talents. I believe in the saying that ” God has a reason for everything.” He has a path for everyone, and it is up to you to listen and to be the best version of yourself. Because of God, I try my best to be a well-behaved, caring, and respectful person. My faith is the backbone of how I carry out my life and I attribute all my successes to God.

Some Losses Hurt More than Others

I have very strong morals and values. My values are definitely my family, my religion, and living an enjoyable life. I am truly blessed to have a very supportive family around me. Fortunately, I have only lost one family member in my life and that was my grandfather at a young age. Because I was young when he died I really didn’t feel the full effect of his death. Now that I am much more mature, I know it will be very difficult to deal with anyone in my family dying because I have such close relationships with everyone in my family. In coping with a loss, I would turn to God and pray that my lost family member will be in heaven and thank him for putting this person in my life. The best way to deal with a loss is to try to be as strong in possible and think that they are now in a better place. As much as I don’t want to deal with loss, I know I will have to and stay as strong as possible.

Love That Never Ends

http://tinyurl.com/653eka

http://tinyurl.com/653eka

I believe the traits of an ideal and loving relationship are trust, chemistry, and the ability to communicate. These three traits will lead to a long, lasting relationship that will never get old. I don’t think you can say enough about trust in a relationship. When you and your partner trust each other it creates a special bond. Whenever you are looking for that “special someone” the chemistry better be there. Without good chemistry, your relationship dwindles because you can’t feed off each other, enjoy conversations together, or truly LOVE each other and mean it. In order to have a relationship that will never end you need to have that ability to communicate with each other; you need to understand each other and be able to tell your partner everything and anything. Not only should you love each other, but you should also be each others best friends. Love may only be a four letter word, but it takes a lot to make your love last forever.
